Sheryl G. Wood

Ms. Wood is the General Counsel to the South Florida Water Management District (District), a 16-county independent special taxing district that provides environmental restoration, flood control and water quality enhancements.  The District is working on one of the largest environmental restoration projects in the world – Everglades Restoration.  She manages the District’s Office of Counsel with 50 staff members.  She has worked in governmental law for over 20 years.  Her specialties include Law Office Practice Management, Environmental and Business Law. 

She received her undergraduate degree, a B.B.A., Major in Accounting, from Florida Atlantic University, and her law degree from Stetson University College of Law.   She serves as Chief Ethics Officer and Public Records Officer for the District.  Ms. Wood participates in many professional and community activities, including

 

Ms. Wood received the Florida Bar Government Lawyer Section Claude Pepper Award in June 2004 and the Palm Beach County Legal Aid Society Pro Bono Award in June 2003.
