2024 Welcome Letter

Congratulations on your appointment to the Executive Council of our Section and thank you for agreeing to serve!  On behalf of the Section’s officers, I want to welcome each of you.

Now that the new year is officially underway, we will schedule a kick-off meeting via Zoom in late August where we can discuss the year ahead and introduce everyone. We’ll also be scheduling initial meetings with our District Representatives and At-Large Representatives to discuss their respective roles.

Our priorities for the year include providing tangible benefits to our members, including developing Continuing Legal Education programs and co-sponsoring them with other Sections, publishing the Voice (the Section’s flagship publication) and maintaining regular communication with members about the Section and our events.  We will look to our committee chairs and at-large representatives to assist in fulfilling these goals.

We will increase our outreach to membership, especially young lawyers and law students.   To that end, we will be looking to our District Representatives to organize at least one public service panel at a law school in their districts.    We aim to convene a panel at every major law school in the State this year.

In addition to these initiatives, we welcome new ideas that further our mission, which is to serve and advocate for all government lawyers in the State, so please don’t hesitate to share any thoughts or comments you may have.

We can’t thank you enough for stepping up and taking a leadership role in our Section, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone at our kick-off meeting in August!

Sincerely,

John J. Bajger

Section Chair
